Guide for Authors

Assiut Veterinary Medical Journal (Assiut Vet. Med. J), a peer-reviewed journal, has been published quarterly by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Assiut University, Assiut, Egypt, since 1974. It publishes original research manuscripts, case reports, and once a year the master and Ph.D. Thesis on different disciplines of animal, Avian, and fish health and diseases.

Manuscripts (MS) are accepted for publication on the understanding that they have not been published and are not being considered for publication elsewhere. Authors are responsible for the contents, validity, and the originally of results. The editors and editorial board are not responsible for the contents of MS published. All animal rights and unnecessary pain of the animals during the experiment must be avoided. All MS are subjected to editorial revision and their comments must be considered and answered and before final decision publication. 

MS  which returned to the editor without making the necessary changes recommended by reviewers will  be rejected.

Manuscript:

Should be submitted to the E-mail (https://avmj.journals.ekb.eg/) or through the post to the Editor in triplicate (three hard copies). Manuscripts should be English typewritten using Times New Roman font size 12 on one side of the A4 size paper with 1 inch=2.5cm margin on each side and double-space throughout. However, MS received from Arabic countries whose official language is Arabic i.e. Syria may be written in Arabic except the Abstract should be in English. All pages must be numbered in the top center of the page consequently in order.

Title page of the MS should have the full title in bold, the initials and surname (s) of the authors, the name and address of the institution(s) where the work was carried out and the text, tables, acknowledgment, and references should be in one file Word. MS should include an abstract with not more than 250 words emphasizing on the main objective(s) of the study, methodology, findings, and conclusion. The abstract should be followed by keywords reflecting the content of MS (3-5 words).

The MS may be divided into Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgement (if any), and References.

Case Report:

should contain abstracts not more than 150 words, and not more than 10 references. Sections include an introduction, explaining why the case id being reported, history, clinical examination, postmortem findings of the case, diagnosis and differential diagnosis, treatment is chosen, discussion and references.

Tables:

should be concise, typewritten in a separate page, numbered numerically

References:

Reference style: APA
  • MS: references at the end should be arranged alphabetically.
  • References to Books:

References to books should include author(s), or editor(s), Year of publication, title, edition, publisher, place of publication, beginning and final page numbers of the relevant chapters as shown below:

- Brown, R.L., D. Bhatnagar, T.E. Cleveland, and J.W. Cary (1998). Recent advances in preharvest prevention of mycotoxin contamination, p. 351-379. In K. K. Sinha and D.   • References to proceedings of Symposia/congresses: must include authors, title of the MS, symposium/congress title, city and country where it was held, month and year of the event

Illustrations:

Photographs should be incorporated as a separate file saved in JPEG format (final resolution 300 dpi) provided with suitable letters, arrows, and asterisk. Figure legends for photographs must state the staining and magnification and should be numbered numerically and separately.

At this stage only minor corrections are possible.

Reprints:

A web link under construction to access the published MS. Authors can download pdf file format of their published MS or ask for it via Email Five reprints will be provided. Extra copies will be changed 10-pound reprint.  

  • Reviewing fees must be paid upon receiving the manuscript equal to 300 pounds.

  • Faculties of Assiut University Campus are charged 300 Egyptian pounds from April 2020 up to 10 pages. Extra pages will be charged 20 E. pounds each paid after accepting the paper.

  • OFF-campus Egyptian universities are charged 400 Egyptian pounds from April 2020 up to 10 pages. Extra pages will be charged 20 E. pounds each paid after accepting the paper.

From Egypt:

N.B.: A copy of the transfer receipt must be sent to the journal via the E-mail (https://avmj.journals.ekb.eg/) otherwise the MS will not be evaluated.
