Abstract

Five trials of forced over feeding of sheep with Hilianthus annus, Vicia Faba, Solanum tuberosum, Saccahrum officinarum and Pisum sativus were tried in starved 25 male rams. The present study revealed: 1. Clinical signs of illness app < /strong>eared 24 hours
after over feeding. 2. Used feed stuffs dramatically affected phy
sical character of rumen juice. It became putrid, of fluid to semifluid or even thick consistency with delayed sedimentation ac tivity. Smaller sized protozoa were aluga gish in movement while large ones were co
mpletely inactive. 3. Rumen pH. was dropped while T.V.F.A. con
centration were elevated. Severity of ve riation was largely dependent on type of
feed. 4. Rumen juice ammonia concentration was dro
p < /strong>ed excep < /strong>t in over feeding with Pisum sa tinus where it inereased.
