This test was applied for the first time in Egypt for the detetion of iL.monocytogenes antibodies in cows and buffaloes. 200 serum samples were collected from adult COWS and buffaloes from El-Hawatka and Bani-mor at Assiut Governorate. These sera were sub jected to indirect haemagglutination test using five antigenic serotypes of L.monocy togenes. The results of this work shows the presence of L.monocytogenes antibodies in apparently healthy cattle with special increase in the incidence of L.monocytogenes type la & 3a in comparson with the other serotypes. The diagnostic tttee for listeria infection in animals should be considered at least 1/160.
